Half Century of Jewish Education; An honest conversation about a life in Jewish Education
Sunday July 26, 2026 10:00am - 1:00pm EDT
This being the 50th Anniversary of CAJE/NewCAJE, we thought it would be interesting to talk frankly with each other about our professional careers. Looking back on what we have accomplished, are we proud of what we’ve done? Which ones of the ideas we tried worked and what didn’t go as well as we thought? How was it to work in the field? Would you do it again? What advice would you give to people working in the field today?
While this intensive is geared for folks who have been working many years or are retired, it is open to anyone interested in coming.

Creating New Authentically Jewish Rituals
Sunday July 26, 2026 2:00pm - 3:30pm EDT
This class will explore how new Jewish rituals can be created, and how traditional rituals can be renewed, to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of contemporary life. We will examine what makes a ritual meaningful and rooted in Jewish tradition, while responding to experiences that may not have established communal practices.
Using a ritual template created by Andrea for women who have gone through the loss of pregnancy, participants will analyze effective ritual. We will identify moments in Jewish life that may call for new or revitalized rituals and consider how tradition can serve as a framework for healing, transition, memory, and connection. Through discussion and reflection, participants will gain tools to engage in the evolving work of Jewish ritual innovation.
